Story:

Jonathan White (Channing Tatum) had a rough childhood. His father, a cop, was killed in the line of duty, and Jonathan was raised by his grandmother in the Queensbridge Projects in Queens, NY. He had a lot of friends, and he was the only white kid, so they called him Milk. Milk and his closest friends were going to start a hardcore punk band and become stars like their favorite band, “MDC (Millions of Dead Cops)”. But fate intervened. Milk and his friends were always hassled by a couple of neighborhood junkies, until one day Milk had enough and killed one of the junkies. Later, they were forced to kill the second junkie to avoid being caught. But the police knew more than they publicly let on. Detective Stanford (Robert De Niro) approaches young Milk and tells him he doesn’t have to worry about getting caught. His dad was Stanford’s partner, which makes them like family. Sixteen years later, Jonathan lives in Long Island with his wife Kerry White, and their beautiful daughter. Like his father, Jonathan is a cop, assigned to the Queensbridge projects where he grew up. 9/11 has caused the neighborhood to change, and real estate developers work closely with the police on a project called “Quality of Life”, an effort to rid the neighborhood of junkies and homeless people. For Jonathan, the changes become personal when a rabble-rousing newspaper publishes a letter from an unnamed source, which describes the details of sixteen-year old murders that were never solved because the police didn’t care. Jonathan’s world is thrown into a tailspin as the letters continue and Sergeant Mathers (James Gandolfini) asks him to give the newspaper editor a visit. The editor, an aging hippie named Roger Daltry, is determined to find out more about the unsolved murders. Jonathan researches his old friends to see if they’re behind the letters. Many are dead, or have been relocated due to the Quality of Life project. He’s pretty sure the culprit is Vinny (Terrence Howard), his closest friend. Vinny had a troubled upbringing, and he and Jonathan shared many secrets. Vinny spent some time in jail, and still lives at home with his mom. Jonathan’s paranoia intensifies when he finds his work locker unlocked, with a copy of the newspaper inside. In the newspaper is a brand new letter about the murders. Kerry begins receiving threatening phone calls, and Mathers pressures him to silence Daltry. Jonathan confronts his old friend, but can’t be sure if he has anything to do with the letters.

Paramount Pictures Open Casting Calls for Girl 12-16 to play lead role in "True Grit"

___________________________________

Paramount Pictures and The Coen Brothers are holding free acting auditions for a GIRL, AGE 12-16 YEARS OLD to be the lead of their new feature film, "True Grit".

This is a remake of the western that earned John Wayne his Academy Award as one-eyed sheriff Rooster Cogburn in 1969. In the Coens' screenplay, "True Grit" will be told from the point of view of Mattie Ross. The movie will begin in 1928, at a point when Mattie tells how she avenged her father's murder back in 1873, when she was only 14 years old.

The casting directors, Rachel Tenner and Ellen Chenoweth, are seeking the following:

Mattie Ross: Female. Caucasian. 12-16 years of age. Mattie is a simple, tough-as-nails young woman. Her steely nerves and straightforward manner are a shocking contrast to the way women behaved in the early century. She is possessed of true grit and plenty of determination, enough so that she insists on going with two marshals to hunt down the killer of her father.

Do not make the mistake of trying to appear like or imitate Kim Darby (who played Mattie Ross in the original film). The film's publicists state, "We are looking for a Caucasian girl who is tough, strong and tells it like it is." The casting directors are looking for REAL (scrubbed-down, no make-up), ‘gritty’ girls! Preferably the kind that rides horses, gets dirty & speaks her mind! They are NOT looking for ‘theatrical’ model types! Rodeo girls (who ride & rope) are best! Not "actor-like / pageant queens".

According to a release from the casting office, the filmmakers are looking for “a 12-16 yr. old Caucasian girl who is tough, strong and tells it like it is. They are open to all looks, so come give it a try! No acting experience is necessary.”

Writer-directors Joel and Ethan Coen “would love, love, love to find somebody unknown,” said casting director Rachel Tenner, who worked with the Coens on “A Serious Man,” “Burn After Reading” and “No Country for Old Men,” which won the Best Picture Oscar in 2008. “Any girls with an instinct to try should come and give it a shot.”

This film is shooting in New Mexico and Texas and is slated to begin March 20, 2010.

Coca-Cola Seeks Sound Talent For New Commercial

Coca-Cola is making stardom possible for its new commercial, called the "Sounds of Coca-Cola," which will feature real people demonstrating their personal renditions of the distinct sounds that occur every time someone opens a Coke and Opens Happiness.

People may speak different languages, but everyone understands the universal language of Coca-Cola. It’s the “ahh” sound you make after taking the first sip on a hot day or the “phsst” sound of the bubbles being released. If you can mimic those sounds, you may find yourself in a starring role alongside other Coca-Cola fans from around the world.

From now through October 15, 2009, people can visit the Coca-Cola page on Facebook to learn how to take part in the global casting call for the new commercial. Through a specially designed "Sounds of Coca-Cola" application on Facebook you can upload personal audition videos showcasing your own unique interpretation of the "Sounds of Coca-Cola."

The Coca-Cola Facebook page, which was created in 2008 by two of the brand’s most ardent supporters, Dusty and Michael, now has nearly 3.7 million fans representing countries on six continents and is one of the most popular brand pages on the global website. To tap into this digital gathering of Coca-Cola lovers from around the globe, the innovative worldwide casting call for “Sounds of Coca-Cola” is being conducted exclusively through Facebook.

Click Here for the Official Sounds of Coca-Cola Facebook Page.

For pointers on producing an eye-catching “Sounds of Coca-Cola” submission, aspiring commercial stars can check out a video in which Dusty and Michael reveal their impressions of what it’s like to enjoy the world’s most refreshing beverage. To participate in the casting call, you simply need to create an individual video, one minute in length, in which you impersonate the following sounds:

● Opening a bottle or can or Coca-Cola

● Ice cubes clinking as they drop into a glass

● Pouring a Coca-Cola over ice

● The fizzing of the Coke as it bubbles after being poured

● The first drink of Coca-Cola

● That “ahh” moment of refreshment

All submitted videos will be reviewed and those which demonstrate the best quality sound effects, exhibit noticeable on-camera presence and personify the Coca-Cola brand will be considered for casting in the production of the commercial, which will debut in 2010.

The global Coca-Cola “Open Happiness” campaign, which debuted in January 2009, invites people to share a little happiness and enjoy life’s simple pleasures. The campaign is airing in markets around the world, Recently, “Heist,” an animated ad in which ladybugs, grasshoppers and other insects join forces to rob a bottle of Coca-Cola from a slumbering picnicker, won the 2009 Emmy for Outstanding Commercial at the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences' Creative Arts Awards.

Worldwide Online Casting Call for 20th Century Fox Television episodic series called "Sons of Tuscon"

Casting Directors are currently looking for two series regulars for a 20th Century Fox Television episodic series starting this Fall called Sons of Tucson. The show is being directed and executive produced by 3 time Primetime Emmy winner Todd Holland.

Both roles are for males (a teen and a child). FOX is looking for two of the brothers: "Robby" and "Brandon."

Robby: (8-years-old) is the youngest Gunderson sibling. He's an impish and impulsive grade-schooler who needs Ron to bail him out when he accidently starts a fire at the back-to-school fair. It's partially for this reason that the Gundersons hire Ron full-time to pose as their dad.

Brandon: (13- 15-years-old) is the oldest of the Gunderson boys. He views life and the family's current situation through a somewhat warped lens. Energetic and upbeat, his eccentricity is charming at times, but his efforts to help his brothers often land them in hot water. He possesses terrific self confidence that is completely unearned.

It is free to upload the audition. Submitting at Sonsoftucsonopencall.com includes a 1 month free premium membership to ActorCast. If you are already an ActorCast member you can submit from the ActorCast roles page.
