Winkler films and Chartoff Productions are in pre-production on the Paramount Pictures major feature film "The Gambler" starring Mark Wahlberg. Primetime Emmy Award winning casting director Sheila Jaffe has scheduled an open casting call in South Los Angeles on November 8, 2013 seeking tall African American male basketball player for lead role in Paramount Pictures feature film 'The Gambler' starring Mark Wahlberg. Sheila Jaffe has recently cast such hit films as "Secretariat," "The Fighter," "Contraband," "The Call," and the upcoming Walt Disney Pictures feature film "Million Dollar Arm". Shooting on "The Gambler" begins January 20, 2014 in Los Angeles.

"The Gambler" centers on an English professor and gambling addict who is headed for certain ruination, and is mercifully rocked by a dose of reality before he loses everything. Saturn Award winner Rupert Wyatt is directing from an original screenplay written by Academy Award winner William Monahan. Academy Award winner Irwin Winkler and David Winkler are producing under the banner of their production company Winkler Films. Academy Award winner Robert Chartoff is producing for Chartoff Productions. Five-time Primetime Emmy Award nominee Stephen Levinson and Mark Wahlberg will also produce. David Crockett will serve as executive producer.

Paramount Pictures Los Angeles Open Casting Call Details

An open casting call will take place this Friday November 8, 2013 seeking an early to mid 20s, 6'0" or taller, African American male who can play basketball and has strong acting skills. This is NOT an extras call. This is for a lead role starring opposite Mark Wahlberg in the Paramount Pictures feature film "The Gambler". There are NO fees to attend the open call or to be considered for this role.

[LAMAR HAMPTON] Early 20s; at least 6'0". A UCLA student, African American, with a baby face, he is the top-rated player on the basketball team. Though hardly collegiate material, he's a smart kid, savvy, practical and realistic, ready to go pro now because he needs the money. MUST PLAY BASKETBALL... LEAD

DO NOT attend this open casting call unless you are:

Early to mid 20s, 6'0" or taller, African American male who can play basketball well and has acting ability.
