AB Media Publishing, LLC

Note: The deadline to submit has been extended through April 22, 2013.

Marc Platt Productions and Phantasma Films in association with Bold Films are in pre-production on the feature film "How To Catch a Monster" written and directed by Ryan Gosling. The casting director is conducting and online open casting call searching for starring and co-starring roles in the film. Shooting will take place in the Detroit, Michigan area beginning May 6, 2013.

The film tells the tale of a single mother named Billy, and her two sons Bones and Frankie. Bones is an introspective loner teen with an active imagination, and while his challenging home life has toughened him, he still clings to childhood fantasies. Frankie is a wild-like little boy who is constantly getting into trouble for trying to escape his school and house. When Bones happens upon a secret road leading to an underwater town, he and his mother must dive deep into the mystery of a macabre and dark fantasy underworld, if their family is to survive.

Starring as Billy is three-time Primetime Emmy nominee Christina Hendricks, who is probably best known for her role as Joan Harris on the hit AMC series "Mad Men". She also has done many films including starring opposite Ryan Gosling in "Drive". Hendricks' other film acting credits include "Life as We Know It" starring with Katherine Heigl, Josh Duhamel, and Josh Lucas; "I Don't Know How She Does It" starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Pierce Brosnan, and Greg Kinnear; "Ginger & Rosa" with Elle Fanning, Christina Hendricks, Annette Bening, Alice Englert; and the upcoming "Seconds of Pleasure" starring opposite Julia Stiles, Brendan Fraser, Matt Dillon, and Kristin Scott Thomas.

Academy Award nominee Ryan Gosling will direct from an original screenplay that he wrote himself. Gosling will also produce along with Marc Platt Productions Primetime Emmy Award nominee Marc Platt and BAFTA Film Award nominee Adam Siegel, Michel Litvak of Bold Productions, and David Lancaster. Co-President of Bold Productions, Gary Michael Walters, will executive produce. These are the same producers that brought you the Academy Award nominated film "Drive" starring Ryan Gosling.

Open Casting Call Details

The casting directors are currently seeking the following:

[FRANKIE]  Male, 2-3, bi-racial. Preferably Caucasian and African-American. Frankie is a "feral" like boy who is constantly getting into trouble for trying to escape his school and house. Quiet and withdrawn, but with an expressive face and deeply active internal life. Almost reminiscent of a silent film character. Because of the lack of lines for this character, there should be an imaginative quality as if he lives in a make-believe world he created.

Identical twins, triplets, quadruplets, etc. are especially encouraged to submit.

MUST LIVE IN DETROIT OR WITHIN 3 HOURS DRIVING DISTANCE FROM DETROIT.

If cast, you must be available to be in Detroit from April 22-June 21, 2013.

If there are problems submitting, please send recent snapshots or videos with contact info directly to:
