UPDATE: New open casting calls scheduled.
Sony Pictures Entertainment is in the casting stage on the upcoming feature film "Here Comes the Boom" starring Kevin James and Salma Hayek. There are auditions for principal actors taking place in Los Angeles, and also in Boston. Open casting calls for extras are scheduled throughout March, 2011 in Greater Boston area locations where filming will take place beginning on March 28, 2011.
"Here Comes the Boom" is about a physics teacher named Scott (Kevin James) who participates in UFC mixed martial arts competitions to save his school's music program.
Kevin James and Jeff Sussman's production company, Hey Eddie, is producing along with Adam Sandler's Happy Madison Productions, Todd Garner's Broken Road Productions, and Columbia Pictures - a subsidiary of Sony Pictures Entertainment.
Todd Garner will direct from a script by Allan Loeb. Garner directed the surprise hit "Paul Blart: Mall Cop," and due to that success, the same production team has made the upcoming film "Zookeeper," as well as the currently filming the Adam Sandler comedy "Jack and Jill".
It is looking like this combination of producers/directors/actors has become a revenue machine for Sony.
