Miami Beach High School alumni Mitch Glazer is creator, executive producer, and head writer of "Magic City". The powerful management company and production company Media Talent Group's CEO Geyer Kosinski is also executive producer, along with co-executive producer Ed Bianchi.

In "Magic City," Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays Ike Evans, the cool, visionary force behind Miami's most glamorous hotel, the Miramar Playa and a man with dangerous secrets. Olga Kurylenko plays Ike’s wife Vera, a former Havana Tropicana showgirl who is deeply loyal to her husband and family. Steven Strait portrays Steven "Stevie" Evans, a womanizing bartender and Ike's son. Christian Cooke plays Ike's younger son Danny Evans, a law school student at the University of Miami. Taylor Blackwell plays Ike's youngest child, teenager Lauren Evans. Danny Huston plays Miami’s most dangerous mobster Ben "The Buthcher" Diamond, and Jessica Marais plays his third wife. Story:

Miami Beach, 1958-1959. As Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) rings in the New Year at his luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel, Havana falls to Castro’s rebels. It’s a turbulent time in Miami, but it’s THE place to be. The Kennedys, the mob and the CIA all hold court here. And Ike, he’s the star of his hotel. But everything comes at a price. To finance his dream, he sold his soul to mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond (Danny Huston). Ike’s wife Vera (Olga Kurylenko), a former Tropicana showgirl from Havana, and his three kids think he’s an honorable man, but he can’t break his pact with the devil. His life is a facade. In fact, nothing at the Miramar Playa is what it seems. By day, it’s diving clowns and cha-cha lessons. By night, escorts have secret liaisons with husbands in the family cabanas, while Miami’s seedier residents and the law drift together to hear legendary singers, musicians and comics. As Ike’s world threatens to implode, he fights for his family, and the Miramar Playa, in the Magic City.

It is 1850, and the brutality of institutionalized slavery has pushed Samuel (Cuba Gooding Jr.)and his family to attempt to escape from the tobacco plantation they have been forced to call their home for two generations. Heading north towards Canada, they move from one "safe house" to another - accompanied by a friend named Big Hand and guided by members of the highly secret “Underground Railroad”. As they run, they are tracked by Plimpton and his men, ruthless hired slave hunters who constantly threaten Samuel and his family's survival. As they journey, his frail Grandmother Adira, who was born into slavery, as were her parents before her, tells the story of John Newton, a sea captain and slave trader in 1748 whose spiritual awakening in a storm in the mid Atlantic, inspires one of the greatest anthems of hope and freedom ever written. Stirred by Adira's story, Samuel takes up the cause for freedom as he tries to overcome the dangerous pursuit and the threat of a society determined to re-enslave him. Finally as the Canadian border beckons, he is faced with the greatest challenge of his life. Will he only save himself and his family, or take the life of another in the name of freedom?
