Open casting call for feature film 'Machete Kills' in Austin, Texas

Machete Kills Open Casting Call
"Machete Kills" begins filming on June 14, 2012.

The sequel to the 2010 action film "Machete" titled "Machete Kills" is set to go before the cameras on June 14, 2012 in Austin, Texas. The film's casting directors are auditioning actors for co-starring and supporting roles in Los Angeles, and additional casting will take place in Austin. The extras casting director is holding an open casting call for all types of people to work as paid general background performers on the film.

Returning for the sequel from the first film is Danny Trejo as Machete Cortez, the ex-federale who went on a rampage for revenge; Golden Globe Award nominated Jessica Alba as the beautiful Immigrations Officer Sartana Rivera; and Screen Actors Guild Award winner Michelle Rodriguez as the taco truck lady Luz. New cast members include two-time academy award winner Mel Gibson, who will play a "James Bond type" villain; two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Sofia Vergara, who will play a leather-clad mistress whose prostitutes have information for Machete; Teen Choice Award winner and "Avatar" star Zoe Saldana in an unspecified role; and the stunning beauty Amber Heard will play an assassin named Miss San Antonio.

Filmmaker Robert Rodriguez will direct "Machete Kills" from a screenplay written by Kyle Ward. Rodriguez shoots and produces many of his films in his native Texas and Mexico. He has directed such films as Desperado, From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Spy Kids, Sin City, Planet Terror, and Machete. He is a friend and frequent collaborator of filmmaker Quentin Tarantino. Rodriguez and producer Elizabeth Avellan own one of the film's production companies, Troublemaker Studios based in Austin, Texas. Immediately following completion of "Machete Kills", Rodriguez will start shooting "Sin City: A Dame to Kill" - which will also be filmed in Austin Texas.

Also producing "Machete Kills" is Rick Schwartz, owner of Overnight Productions; Sergei Bespalov and Alexander Rodnyansky of RF Releasing; Harvey and Bob Weinstein, who are producing under the banner of their production company The Weinstein Company; Aldamisa Entertainment, the sibling company of RF Releasing, is the film's worldwide sales representative. Twentieth Century Fox Film Corporation will distribute ""Machete Kills" domestically in the United States.

Story:

Machete is back in Robert Rodriquez's "Machete Kills" starring the ultra-cool Danny Trejo as the former Mexican Federale - this time he is hired by the President of the United States and must take on a "James Bond" style villain (Mel Gibson). There is a space element and Machete will have a much bigger playground. Machete must take on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.
