HBO open casting call for season 2 of the Golden Globe winning 'Boardwalk Empire'

The extras casting director for HBO's high budget hit series "Boardwalk Empire" is holding an open casting call for both union and non-union extras to work on the show during the upcoming second season.

The series was adapted by Emmy Award-winning screenwriter and producer Terence Winter of "The Sopranos" from a chapter in Nelson Johnson's book, "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City".

The costs for the entire first season of "Boardwalk Empire" have been estimated to range upwards of $65 million. In addition to interior shooting at Steiner Studios, the largest film studio on the East Coast, a 300-foot period-perfect rendition of Atlantic City in the early 1920s has been recreated on a vacant lot in the Greenpoint district of Brooklyn, New York.

Martin Scorsese serves as one of the executive producers on "Boardwalk Empire," along with Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, and Tim Van Patten. Scorsese also directed the 80-minute pilot episode, and has stated that he would like to direct addition episodes in the future.
