Open Casting Call for kids to star in Mos Def feature film “Stringbean & Marcus” in Philadelphia

Casting Directors for a new independent film, “Stringbean & Marcus” starring Mos Def and Oscar nominated actress Sophie Okonedo, are holding an open casting call in Philadelphia on April 13.

The movie, written and directed by Philadelphia native, Tanya Hamilton, takes place in 1978 and focuses on the broken love affair between two former Black Panther members (Mos Def and Okonedo) and is told through the eyes of an adolescent girl.

The casting directors are looking for two African American, Hispanic or Asian boys ages eight to eleven and an African American girl age nine or ten.

They are specifically seeking the following:

Iris Wilson: African American Female, 9 or 10yrs old (lead role). Fiercely independent.

Francis Southerland: African American, Hispanic or Asian Male, 8yrs old (supporting role). Geek of all geeks.

Colin Dixon: African American Male, 11yrs. old (supporting role). Authority on everything.

Only the types listed will be seen . NO PHONE CALLS.

Talent must bring a current photo with contact information attached.

Previous experience is not necessary.

America's Top Model 13 Open Casting Call in New York

If you are an aspiring female model 5'7" or below, your chance to hit the runway is almost over. AMERICA'S NEXT TOP MODEL returns to New York City on Saturday, April 11 to hold one final open call for Cycle 13. As previously announced, females age 18 to 27, of diverse backgrounds, shapes, sizes and with a height requirement of 5'7" and under are eligible to audition. Confirmed location will be posted to www.cwtv.com later this week.

PLEASE NOTE:

1. No lining up overnight and no lining up prior to 6:00am. Wristbands will be handed out the morning of the open call beginning at 7:00am.

2. Colors of wristbands indicate when you should return to the venue. We encourage you to leave and come back. There is no advantage to getting a wristband early.

3. Only women applying should stand in line. If someone is just short of being 18, she can have one guardian with her.

4. No jumping in line or holding places for others.

5. Casting staff will give special instructions for the disabled.

6. Once in the venue, no ins and outs.

7. Only one audition per open call – do not try again if you've been cut.

8. Casting staff wearing official ANTM gear outside the venue may ask you for information in advance but be careful who you talk to and avoid anyone trying to charge you anything to participate.

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" National Talent Search and Open Auditions

SPIDER-MAN Turn Off The Dark, featuring direction by Julie Taymor (Across The Universe, Frida, The Lion King on Broadway) with music and lyrics by 22-time Grammy® Award-winners Bono and The Edge (from U2) will be holding open casting calls at major cities across the country starting next week on April 9, 2009. SPIDER-MAN is seeking principals and understudies for the roles of ‘Peter Parker,’ ‘Mary Jane,’ and ‘Female Lead Villian.’ The production is looking for performers with dynamic rock/pop voices including those with experience in bands and as solo performers. Regardless of experience, anyone who thinks they might be qualified is encouraged to audition.

"Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark," is a $40-million production that will bring the superhero on stage in his own Broadway production in early 2010.

Open Auditions for Nick Jr. show offer chance to star in YO GABBA GABBA! Live On Stage in Austrailia

Thousands of Aussie kids get the chance of a lifetime to enter a cool competition and meet Yo Gabba Gabba! stars Brobee and Foofa at Myer Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne City Stores in the April school holidays.

Myer will host these open auditions, giving some lucky kids the chance to star in the world premiere of Nick Jr. presents YO GABBA GABBA! Live On Stage.

Yo Gabba Gabba! is the coolest children’s TV series on the planet, and was voted the Best Children’s Show in Sydney Morning Herald’s 2008 Couch Potato Awards. The show features funky host DJ Lance Rock, five wacky character friends, a bunch of super-fun segments plus special celebrity guests including Jack Black, Elijah Wood and skateboard superstar Tony Hawk.

One of the most popular segments is Cool Tricks, where kids demonstrate a ‘cool trick’. Whether playing a recorder through the nose, skating a half-pipe or just making silly sounds, Yo Gabba Gabba! has shown the world the possibilities are endless and there is nothing kids can’t do!

Open auditions will be held at Myer city stores in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in the school holidays from Thursday 16 - Saturday 18 April. Kids can come along and perform their ‘Cool Trick’ in front of the Nick Jr. and Myer judges, who will then choose the top six coolest kids per state to perform at the live shows in May!

Until Wednesday 8 April, parents can also enter their kids by uploading a video of their ‘Cool Trick’ to the Nick Jr. website. From funny faces to playing a musical instrument, entries are open to anyone between the ages of 3 to 12. Anyone who enters online will also get the chance to compete on stage at the Myer store auditions in their home city.

Kids must be accompanied by a legal guardian to the open auditions and must have parental permission when entering online through the Nick Jr. website. For more information, go to Nick Jr.
