Open Casting Call for Sony feature film "Straw Dogs"

Sony/Screen Gems announces the movie "Straw Dogs," written and directed by Rod Lurie, and it is slated to begin filming in Shreveport, LA on August 17, 2009. This film is a remake of the 1972 version which starred Dustin Hoffman.

Glorioso Casting, LLC (Harold & Kumar 2, The Mist, The Expendables) is conducting the local casting in Bossier City, LA for the film with open auditions scheduled on July 11. People of all ages and ethnicities are encouraged to attend as there is a need for more than 1,000 extras in several of the scenes as well as featured extras. (See Special Needs Below).

What to bring:

Bring a recent non-returnable photo (4" x 6" preferred). If you do not have a picture, one will be taken for you. Applicants may also bring a photo of their car to be considered for the film.

Special Needs:

Everyone should register! However we do have a strong need for:
  • FOOTBALL PLAYERS: 18 - 23 years to look high school age. Real football players are encouraged to attend.
  • CHEERLEADERS: 18 - 23 years to look high school age. Real cheerleaders are encouraged to attend.
  • REFEREE'S: REAL football referees are encouraged to attend.
  • TOWNSPEOPLE: Adults, 18 and over, are strongly encouraged to attend. Children may sign up as well but parents/guardians must be present.

NOTE: They will have 4 days of NIGHT SHOOTING the week of August 17th, 2009 and they will need a large amount of extras. These are PAID positions. All who attend will be considered for the film!

America's Largest Country Music Talent Search

The 28th annual Colgate Country Showdown is coming to Raton, New Mexico. KBKZ-FM will host the America's largest country music talent search and radio promotion. Approximately $200,000 in cash and prizes will be awarded nationwide, including the grand prize of $100,000 cash to the national winner, presented at the National Final televised special.

There is no charge for the event. Sponsors include Phillips Broadcasting owners of KBKZ-FM "Coyote Country" and the Raton Chamber and Economic Development Council. A cash prize of $300 will be awarded at the local competition, with the winner representing Raton in the state finals at the Sky City Casino near Grants, New Mexico, later this summer.

Designed to find the most promising country music talent in the United States for the past 28 years, the Colgate Country Showdown gives aspiring artists a chance to launch their professional careers. Thousands of performers compete annually for the Country Showdown title.

Open to vocal performers, the Colgate Country Showdown welcomes individual acts or groups the chance to compete. Acts must not have performed on a recording that has charted in the top 100 county format of Billborard, Radio and Records, or the Gavin Report within 18 months preceding the local competition. A $15 entry fee is required of all acts entering the Colgate Country Showdown competition.

2009-2010 NHL Dallas Stars Ice Girls Auditions

The NHL Dallas Stars Ice Hockey Team will hold open auditions July 11, 2009 for women who would like to be considered for the upcoming NHL season.

Requirements:
  • 18 years of age on or before July 11, 2009.
  • High school graduate or a G.E.D.
  • If selected, must reside in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area and have reliable means of transportation.
  • Must be willing to attend all practices, games, and other related activities.

  • Hockey skates will be available from the StarCenter for the skating portion of the audition
Your make-up should be in shades that compliment and accentuate your natural beauty. Your hair should be in a current hairstyle that compliments your features and does not hide your face. Your nails should be painted in a neutral shade of polish or with a French or American style manicure.

What To Wear:
  • Dance/yoga style pants Midriff-baring top (Dance or athletic bra top)
  • Dance or athletic shoes (dance sneakers, jazz shoes or tennis shoes)
  • Sweater or light jacket
  • You will need to wear the same attire for both days of the auditions
  • Select attire for the audition that is eye-catching & unique

Open Casting Call for feature film "Bending Spoons" in Saginaw, Michigan

An open casting call will be held next Saturday for a new movie being filmed in mid-Michigan.

The movie, called “Bending Spoons,” is produced by Saginaw Township native Mark Rupp.

Already cast in the film, a comedy-drama, is Oscar winner Celeste Holm, Richard Pryor Jr., Lucille Ball's granddaughter, Katharine Luckinbill, and "Matlock" director Daniel Roebuck

“It's an independent film and we have Academy Award and Emmy Award winners in the cast,” said Mark Rupp, executive producer of Bending Spoons. “We will be filming August and September and are doing initial casting the weekend of June 27th.”

Roles are open for bikers, nurses, doctors, grandparents, parents and bodybuilders, as well as children 5 and older, who must come with a parent or legal guardian.
