Steven Spielberg feature film 'Lincoln' open casting calls

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Steven Spielberg is set to begin production on the highly anticipated major feature film 'Lincoln' late September, 2011 in Chicago and Virginia. The extras casting director is holding an open casting call in Richmond, VA seeking men above 20 years of age. There will also be another open casting call in August that includes women and children.

Spielberg will direct the film from a screenplay written by Academy Award nominated scribe Tony Kushner. The adapted screenplay is based on Doris Kearns Goodwin's bestseller "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln," which follows Lincoln's leadership during the years of the American Civil War.

While consulting on a Steven Spielberg project in 1999, Kearns-Goodwin told Spielberg she was planning to write "Team of Rivals," and Spielberg immediately told her he wanted the film rights. DreamWorks finalized the deal way back in 2001 and the film has been in pre-production ever since.

The film will star Academy Award-winning actors Daniel Day-Lewis as Abraham Lincoln and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. Liam Neeson was attached to play the role of Abraham Lincoln from the start, but withdrew from the project in 2010, at which point Daniel Day-Lewis agreed to play the role.

World Famous Ringling Bros. Clown style

The particular "Ringling Style" of clowning taught at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College is rooted in the "American" type of clown performance, with an accent towards broad and slapstick type humor, as opposed to the "European" approach which is typically more stylized and elegant. Because of the "three ring" configuration of the Ringling Bros. show, and the bigger arenas that are needed to present such an attraction, audiences are larger and many patrons sit in balconies or upper decks, far above the action. In order to reach the people in every area of these larger arenas, clowns on the Ringling show must design their make up to be seen at a distance, and use their props and clear physical movements to show the audience what is happening during a gag, no matter where in the house they are seated. The training given at Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Clown College is tailor made for the Ringling show, but could be transferred to other circus styles.

Open casting calls and auditions for Legendary Pictures 'Man of Steel'

 _______________________________________________

The Warner Bros. Pictures, DC Entertainment, and Legendary Pictures feature film "Man of Steel" is currently casting principal actors in Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, and Vancouver. There are also open casting calls scheduled for people interested in working as extras, stand-ins, and photo doubles for the film's stars in the Chicagoland area. There will also be extras cast in Vancouver, BC.

Actor Henry Cavill has landed the starring role of Clark Kent/Superman. Cavill is best known for playing Charles Brandon on the Showtime series "The Tudors". He is the first non-American actor to be cast in the role. Three time Academy Award nominee Amy Adams has been cast as Lois Lane, Academy Award winner Russell Crowe will play Superman's Kryptonian father Jor-El, two time Academy Award winner Kevin Costner and Academy Award nominee Diane Lane will play Clark Kent's adoptive parents Jonathan and Martha Kent.

Zack Snyder will direct "Man of Steel" from a screenplay written by David S. Goyer. Snyder's directorial credits include Universal Pictures' "Dawn of the Dead," as well as the the Warner Bros. Pictures feature films "300," "Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole," and "Sucker Punch".

Legendary Pictures Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull will executive produce, Lloyd Phillips will co-executive produce. Chris Nolan and Emma Thomas will produce for Syncopy, Charles Roven will produce for Atlas Entertainment, and Deborah Snyder will handle production for Cruel and Unusual Films. "Man of Steel", which has an estimated budget of $175 million, is scheduled for a theatrical release in December 2012.

Note: "Man of Steel" has been using the working title of "Autumn Frost". A working title is the temporary name of a film used during its development. Working titles are used primarily for two reasons - the first being that an official title has not yet been decided upon and the working title is being used as a filler for naming purposes, the second being to intentionally disguise the production of a high profile film. In some cases a working title may ultimately be used as the official title. This "title ruse" is now a very common practice by which these high-profile films or television series are given a fake working title to keep its production a secret, and to prevent price gouging by suppliers, casual theft and undesirable attention. The release title of this film will be "Man of Steel".

Filming on "Man of Steel" will take place in the Chicago, Plano, and Naperville, Illinois areas beginning August 22, 2011 and continue through late September, 2011. The production will then move to Vancouver, BC where it will continue shooting through April, 2012.
