Godzilla Auditions and Open Casting Calls

"Godzilla" is scheduled to hit theaters in 3D, May 16, 2014.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. Pictures, in association with Disruption Entertainment are starting production on the huge big-budget epic feature film "Godzilla", and shooting is scheduled to begin soon in Hawaii. The film's casting directors are holding an open casting call for speaking roles and extras. Shooting is taking place in various locations in Hawaii. Both adults and children are needed.

The filmmakers will return Godzilla to its epic roots with a gritty, realistic action film shot in 3-D. This version of "Gojira" will be a terrifying force of nature, and the film will add a very compelling human drama involving two new monsters that will also be wreaking havoc. The director has said that he is going to take the story very seriously, as he has wanted to see this movie this way all his life. He stated, "Imagine if this really happened, as crazy as it sounds, what would it really be like?" The plot of this film will revolve around the story of an individual soldier.

Starring in "Godzilla" is BAFTA Awards Rising Star Award nominee Aaron Taylor-Johnson, an English actor who began performing at six years of age. Taylor-Johnson recently starred in "Anna Karenina" opposite Keira Knightley. That film has been nominated for four Academy Awards. BAFTA Awards EE Rising Star Award nominee Elizabeth Olsen is playing a lead role "Godzilla". Olsen is an exceptionally beautiful and talented actress who recently completed filming on "Oldboy" starring opposite Samuel L. Jackson and Josh Brolin. Four-time Golden Globe Award nominee Bryan Cranston, who just finished working on "Eye of Winter", is also starring. Ken Watanabe, Juliette Binoche, and David Strathairn roundout the cast.

Primetime Emmy Award nominee Gareth Edwards will direct "Godzilla" from a screenplay written by three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont. Dave Callaham wrote the original draft of the script, David S. Goyer was brought in to rewrite Callaham's draft, but was unable to finish due to scheduling conflicts. Then Max Borenstein came onboard to finish the script. Darabont was brought in on January 7, 2013 to do rewrites and polish the screenplay. Gareth Edwards is a British film director who is best known for directing, writing, and doing the visual effects for the independent film "Monsters," his feature film directorial debut.

Executive producing "Godzilla" is Legendary Pictures SVP of Creative Affairs Alex Garcia. Also executive producing is Yoshimitsu Banno, who directed and wrote the 1971 film "Godzilla vs. Hedorah". Patricia Whitcher will serve as executive producer alongside Kenji Okuhira. Legendary Pictures Chairman and CEO Thomas Tull and President and Chief Creative Officer Jon Jashni are producing. Mary Parent will oversee production for Disruption Entertainment.

10th Annual 'Stand-Up NBC' Comic Search open auditions begin July 14, 2013

Stand-Up NBC Open Auditions

Stand-Up NBC is now in it's 10th year.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

The annual "Stand-Up NBC" comic search conducted by NBC Universal (NBCU) is now underway and open calls have been scheduled for San Diego, Austin, and New York City. This year the name of the program has been changed from "NBC Stand-Up for Diversity" to "Stand-Up NBC" and a brand new logo has been unveiled. This initiative is a search for comedians of diverse backgrounds, and many participants have been launched to new career milestones. The national search seeks to find the funniest comics of diverse backgrounds. The most-promising diverse stand-up comedians will be awarded a talent holding deal with NBC Universal, along with other opportunities to be announced later this year.

Each year NBC selects 3-5 cities across the country and holds both auditions and live showcases of the top diverse talent from that area. At the end of the search a handful of comedians are brought back to Los Angeles to showcase for key industry players at NBC Universal and industry-wide. Many of the comics from last year's 2012 Best of Stand-Up for Diversity showcase signed with top Hollywood agents and met with the entertainment industry's leading casting directors and executives. Top 'Stand-Up NBC' finalists also had the opportunity to perform at the National Association of Campus Activities (NACA) and have booked hundreds of college appearances through NBCU’s established partnership with NACA.

Stand-Up NBC Auditions

Comics will have one minute at the initial regional open auditions. A handful will be invited back later that day to perform a longer set. Based upon performance, a select group of semi-finalists will have a chance to perform live at the NBC Universal showcase the next evening where industry executives are invited to attend. Comics must have a total minimum of five minutes of polished material. Audience response will be a factor in determining which comic (or comics) will be selected for the "Stand-Up NBC Finale" showcase in Los Angeles.

Only the first 100 comics to arrive on the auditions days will be seen. It is highly advisable to show up early.

San Diego:

The Comedy Palace

You may choose only ONE of the following audition days. Please do not show up for both days.

Auditions (Day 1): Saturday, August 17 (10am)
Auditions (Day 2): Sunday, August 18, (10am)
Showcase: Monday, August 19 (8pm)

Note:

This is not a show that will air on NBC, but rather an opportunity to be showcased for agents, casting directors, and television executives in consideration for future casting and development opportunities. This open call is for comics of diverse backgrounds who are serious about being funny. Stand-Up NBC does not require comics to be of a certain age to audition, however most of the comedy clubs where they showcase are 21 and up only.
