AB Media Publishing, LLC
Happy Madison Productions and Sony Pictures Entertainment are set to begin filming "Grown Ups 2" starting mid-May, 2012 in Massachusetts. The casting directors are holding two open casting calls seeking a very large number of kids, teens, and adults of all ages and types to work as extras in the movie. Anyone in Boston, New Hampshire or Rhode Island can attend. Shooting will continue through August 9, 2012. No prior experience is required, and both union and non-union extras are welcome.
"Grown Ups 2" is a follow up to the 2010 comedy about a group of childhood friends who reunite years later, and Adam Sandler's first ever sequel. The first "Grown Ups" film was a box office success with a worldwide gross of over $271 million. Dennis Dugan returns to direct from a script once again written by Fred Wolf. Allen Covert will executive produce with Barry Bernardi. Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo will produce for Sandler's company Happy Madison Productions.
The main cast are all returning - Adam Sandler as Lenny "Hollywood" Feder; Kevin James as Eric Lamonsoff; Chris Rock as Kurt McKenzie; Rob Schneider as Rob Hilliard; David Spade as Marcus "Higgy" Higgins; Salma Hayek as Roxanne Chase-Feder. Also joining the cast is Shaquille O'Neal, who will play a Town Cop; The Twilight Saga's Taylor Lautner and Wizards of Waverly Place star David Henrie will play collage frat boys who go head to head against Adam Sandler and his buddies.
The open casting calls are taking place in the Boston, MA area. There will be at least 17 days of the film being shot in the town of town Marblehead, including at several schools, both while school is in session and after summer vacation starts. Additional filming will take place in the nearby towns of Swampscott, Salem and Peabody. Some of the first "Grown Ups" movie was also filmed in Marblehead.
Originally, Adam Sandler wrote and was set to release "Grown Ups" in the mid-1990s with actor Chris Farley in the role now played by Kevin James. However, Farley's tragic passing in 1997 halted production plans and the film was shelved for more than a decade. After the "Grown Ups" premiered on June 25 2010, Adam Sandler bought each of his fellow cast members (Chris Rock, Kevin James, Rob Schneider and David Spade) a brand new Maserati.
