Starz renewed 'Magic City' for a second season on March 20, 2012.
AB Media Publishing, LLC

The Starz original series "Magic City" has been picked up for a second season and there will be a new open casting call for talent to work as "core" background actors on multiple days per episode. The casting director will be booking paid wardrobe fittings and workdays on the spot. All types 18 years of age and older are needed especially people with a late 50s - early 60s look. Principal actor casting takes place in Los Angeles and New York, with additional smaller speaking roles cast in Miami. All extras and stand-ins are cast in Miami.

Miami Beach High School alumni Mitch Glazer is creator, executive producer, and head writer of "Magic City". Glazer wrote the series around his experiences growing up in Miami, and many of the incidents that Glazer relates in the series are based on stories his family told him about what was happening in the lobbies of hotels in late 1950s and early 1960, and also from extensive research while working as a journalist prior to becoming a screenwriter. The powerful management company and production company Media Talent Group's CEO Geyer Kosinski is also executive producer, along with co-executive producer Ed Bianchi.

In "Magic City," Jeffrey Dean Morgan portrays Ike Evans, the cool, visionary force behind Miami's most glamorous hotel, the Miramar Playa and a man with dangerous secrets. Olga Kurylenko plays Ike’s wife Vera, a former Havana Tropicana showgirl who is deeply loyal to her husband and family. Steven Strait portrays Steven "Stevie" Evans, a womanizing bartender and Ike's son. Christian Cooke plays Ike's younger son Danny Evans, a law school student at the University of Miami. Taylor Blackwell plays Ike's youngest child, teenager Lauren Evans. Danny Huston plays Miami’s most dangerous mobster Ben "The Buthcher" Diamond, and Jessica Marais plays his third wife. The wife of "Magic City" creator Mitch Glazer, Kelly Lynch, plays Ike's former sister-in-law Meg Bannock.

Story:

Miami Beach, 1958-1959. As Ike Evans (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) rings in the New Year at his luxurious Miramar Playa Hotel, Havana falls to Castro’s rebels. It’s a turbulent time in Miami, but it’s THE place to be. The Kennedys, the mob and the CIA all hold court here. And Ike, he’s the star of his hotel. But everything comes at a price. To finance his dream, he sold his soul to mob boss Ben “The Butcher” Diamond (Danny Huston). Ike’s wife Vera (Olga Kurylenko), a former Tropicana showgirl from Havana, and his three kids think he’s an honorable man, but he can’t break his pact with the devil. His life is a facade. In fact, nothing at the Miramar Playa is what it seems. By day, it’s diving clowns and cha-cha lessons. By night, escorts have secret liaisons with husbands in the family cabanas, while Miami’s seedier residents and the law drift together to hear legendary singers, musicians and comics. As Ike’s world threatens to implode, he fights for his family, and the Miramar Playa, in the Magic City.
