20th Century Fox national talent search for Cameron Crowe feature film 'We Bought A Zoo'
20th Century Fox has purchased the film rights to Benjamin Mee's book "We Bought a Zoo: The Amazing True Story of a Broken-Down Zoo, and the 200 Animals That Changed a Family Forever". “We Bought A Zoo” tells the story of how Mee and his family used their life savings to buy a dilapidated zoo and restore it to its former glory.
Oscar winning director Cameron Crowe has signed on to helm the film, which will be his first project since 2005. Aline Brosh McKenna, well known for her adaptation of "The Devil Wears Prada", penned the original screenplay, however Cameron Crowe rewrote the script to reflect it's sensibilities. Julie Yorn is producing along with Mark Gordon. Yorn has produced such films as Max Payne, Bride Wars, Unstoppable, and is currently producing the Catherine Hardwicke film Red Riding Hood starring Amanda Seyfried.
We Bought A Zoo casting director Gail Levin is conducting a national online open casting call for the following three lead roles:
DYLAN MEE: Benjamin Mee's 14-year-old son (submit 13-18 years of age to play 14).
ROSIE MEE: Benjamin Mee's 6-year-old and extremely lively daughter (submit 6-8 years of age to play 6).
LILY: 15-years-old and a rural beauty (submit 14-19 years of age to play 15).
To upload your audition video, please visit the official FOX website and follow the instructions very carefully.
The deadline to submit your audition video is October, 11 2010. Filming begins in January, 2011 and the scheduled release date is December 23, 2011. Shooting will take place in Thousand Oaks, CA.
Production Companies:

It was his dream to refurbish the zoo and run it as a family business. There was much work to be done, and none of it easy. Tigers broke loose, money ran low, the staff grew skeptical, and family tensions ran high. Then tragedy struck. His wife had a recurrence of a brain tumor, forcing Benjamin and his children to face the heartbreak of illness and the devastating loss of a wife and mother. But inspired by her memory and the healing power of the incredible family of animals they had grown to love, Benjamin and his kids resolved to move forward.
