Open Casting Call for CBS TV series 'Hawaii-Five-0' actors and extras

The new CBS crime drama 'Hawaii-Five-0' is currently in production and casting for principal actors, day players, extras, and stand-ins is underway. There will be an open casting call on August 28, 2010 for both speaking and non-speaking roles. The casting directors, Rachel Sutton and Julie Carson are looking to cast people of all ages, races and backgrounds for upcoming shoots to play the parts of bikini girls, surfers, tourists, locals, etc.

The original series aired from September 20, 1968 to April 4, 1980. This new version of Hawaii Five-0 is set in present-day Hawaii and is spelled 'Hawaii Five-0' with the last character a zero instead of a capital letter such as the original series was spelled. The name of this television series comes from the fact that Hawaii was the 50th state to join the United States.

The series regulars and most of the guest stars are cast out of Los Angeles, and the rest of the casting is done in Hawaii. The series shoots in Oahu, Hawaii and is under AFTRA contract. Hawaii Five-0 premieres with a sneak preview September 13, 2010 at Sunset on the Beach at Waikiki. The show will join the network's 2010–2011 fall lineup on September 20, 2010.

Story:

A contemporary take on the classic series about a new elite federalized task force whose mission is to wipe out the crime that washes up on the Islands’ sun-drenched beaches. Detective Steve McGarrett, a decorated Naval officer turned cop, returns to Oahu to investigate his father’s murder and stays after Hawaii’s governor persuades him to head up the new team: his rules, her backing, no red tape and full blanket immunity to hunt down the biggest “game” in town. Joining McGarrett is Detective Danny “Danno” Williams, a newly relocated ex-New Jersey cop who prefers skyscrapers to the coastline but is committed to keeping the Islands safe for his 8-year-old daughter; and Chin Ho Kelly, an ex-Honolulu Police Detective wrongly accused of corruption and relegated to a federal security patrol, who is also a former protégé of McGarrett’s father. Chin’s cousin, Kono, is a beautiful and fearless native, fresh out of the academy and eager to establish herself among the department’s elite. McGarrett vows to bring closure to his father’s case while the state’s brash new FIVE-0 unit, who may spar and jest among themselves, is determined to eliminate the seedy elements from the 50th state.

Universal Pictures open casting call for feature film 'Drive' in Los Angeles

The feature film 'Drive' starring Ryan Gosling and Bryan Cranston is now in pre-production and there will be an open casting call in Los Angeles on August 14, 2010 for principle roles, featured parts, and background. The film is about a stunt driver with a sketchy past who becomes the target of the Mob after being the driver for a botched bank heist.

Marc Platt will co-produce. Platt's films include Legally Blonde, Wanted, Rachel Getting Married, Nine, Charlie St. Cloud, among others. Marc Platt Productions has a production deal with Universal Pictures. Drive is based on the James Sallis novel of the same name.

Production is looking for Hispanic Men and Women who look like they are from the inner city or "East LA" types. For the men they are looking for young 'Cholo' tattooed gangster thug types. For the females, they are looking for young Hispanic women who look like they have had a hard life. Production does not want anyone who looks too polished, or to much like an Actor or Actress. They want it to look very authentic to some of the Lower class areas of LA that are predominately Hispanic.

The movie is starring Ryan Gosling, and his character befriends a young Hispanic single mother, and her boyfriend is a young Hispanic gangster type who is newly released from prison. These characters, along with others, have not been cast yet, so this open casting call may fill those roles, and could be a great opportunity.
