Open casting call scheduled for feature film 'A Sort of Homecoming'

An open casting call will take place on Monday February 3rd in Lafayette, Louisiana for the feature film A Sort of Homecoming.

Coming Home Productions and Five Sisters Productions are ready to begin filming this indie film on February 11, 2014. Shooting will take place in the Lafayette and surrounding areas. The film is a coming of age drama set in the world of high school debate. The extras casting director is seeking many types of people, especially those who are 18 years of age and older that can portray high school students.

A Sort of Homecoming centers on Amy Harrigan, a world-weary New York news producer who reluctantly returns to her small Louisiana home town to chaperone the final days in the life of Annie Sonnier, the high school debate coach who first provided her with a ticket out. Questions raised during their difficult reunion catapult Amy back to the events surrounding her pursuit of a high school debate championship and the disappearance of her debate partner and first love. Ultimately Amy reaches a sort of closure with the life she left behind and the love she lost along the way.

Starring in A Sort of Homecoming is Laura Marano playing the central character Amy. Marano is best known for playing Ally Dawson in the hugely popular Disney Channel series Austin & Ally. Her previous film credits include voice-over work on Finding Nemo and Ice Age: The Meltdown, The Jacket starring Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley, and Superbad starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. Also starring in A Sort of Homecoming is Katherine McNamara playing the role of Amy's unlikely friend Rosa, a veteran debater from New York’s best high school. McNamara has acted in the Disney Channel shows Jessie, and Kickin' It, as well as the Disney Channel Original Movies Madison High and Girl Vs. Monster. She recently completed filming Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn starring alongside Val Kilmer and Jake T. Austin.
